Judging Standards

America's Best Dance Band

(formerly Best Dance Band in the USA)

Judging Standards:

  • Music Industry Endorsements

  • Forward letter(s) from booking agents, night club managers, etc., (via email attachment) as to why they feel your band should be considered. This is the most important judging category and endorsements from talent agents will carry the most weight. We accept only one band endorsement per talent agent. The agent should describe why your band is their top act and list your accomplishments.

  • Client Endorsements

  • Forward thank you letters from satisfied clients. Please include only your strongest letters from your highest profile clients. (via email attachment or posted on your web site)

  • Press

  • Forward any and all press related coverage on your band during the past year. Include newspaper articles, magazine article, radio & television appearances, etc. Please do not include club listings, display ads, etc.

  • Performances

  • Forward a list of your bands performances (via email attachment) in the past 12 month including date and venue. Judging on this category is based on number of gigs and venue. Gigs outside of your home town score highly and especially international gigs overseas.

  • Web Site

  • We'll judge the overall quality of your web site including: design, graphics, ease of use, organization and content.

  • Video

  • A good video is an essential tool for a cover band. We'll judge your video from your web site. What? You don't have video on your site? Now's the time!

  • Awards

  • Please send proof of any and all awards your band has won and also awards given to individual band members while they we're members of the band.

  • Sponsors

  • Include a list of any company endorsements, sponsorships, etc., that your band has established with the business community. Example: equipment endorsements, beer sponsorships, etc.

  • Miscellaneous

  • This 10th and final category includes other factors not listed above such as: song selection and volume of material, the visual impact or "look" of the band, notoriety of individual members of the band, length of time band has been established, showmanship and any other factors that may make a band stand out.

Rules: Entries must be received by June 30th. Accuracy of information will be verified and any misinformation will disqualify the band for this and all future awards sponsored by NACB. (So if you cheat, you'll have to change your name to enter next year. It isn't worth it!) You do not have to submit or have documents for all categories. Just get us as much information as you can. We will access your web site for the much of the necessary information. All acts must have a web site to be considered. Please send all submissions via e-mail. Please do not email large files or photos. You can make our job easier by being concise and to the point. Our only means of communication is email. We do not accept phone calls or snail mail. At this time we have only a small staff and we just cannot handle additional workload. We hope to expand in the near future.
Please let us know if you have other award suggestions!
